DERMATOLOGY
The Dermatology Service at Michigan Veterinary Specialists offers a wide range of specialized diagnostic techniques to improve the quality of your pet's life. Animals can develop uncomfortable and potential serious disorders of the skin, mouth, hair, ears and nails that require medical intervention. Chronic infections and inflammatory conditions of the ears are generally a symptom of underlying skin disorders.
Routine services provided include complete dermatologic examination, skin and ear cytologic evaluations, skin scrapings, hair examinations, and fungal or bacterial cultures. The Dermatology Service at Michigan Veterinary Specialists offers video otoscopic examinations of ear canals, intradermal allergy testing for inhalant diseases, laser surgical removal of skin growths and interpretations of skin biopsy.
Beyond testing, Michigan Veterinary Specialists is also a center for healing. Our team are experts in the diagnosis and treatment infectious and noninfectious skin diseases, parasitic skin diseases, autoimmune diseases, allergy and allergy-induced skin diseases, recognition of the skin manifestations of systemic disease (including endocrine disorders), cysts and other tumors of the skin.

skin conditions and the fulfillment that she gets from
being able to build relationships with clients, she
chose to specialize in veterinary dermatology. She’s
not the only one in the family to feel so passionately
about the health of animals – including herself
and her husband there are four veterinarians in the
family. Dr. Martin is a proud mama of a little girl
and a baby boy, a Giant Schnauzer named Brinks, and
Emily – a horse she rescued from being euthanized
due to a rare skin disease called Ehler Danlos (Emily
is extremely thin skinned and can’t be ridden
as a result).
