WHY CHOOSE MVS?

With more than 35 doctors--over half of whom are board-certified specialists--Michigan Veterinary Specialists (MVS) focuses on "collaborative medicine": teams of experts, working together under one roof, combining their medical expertise, skills and experience to determine the best treatment for their patients. This, in addition to attentive care and advanced medical equipment, are just some of the reasons why more than 20,000 patients a year are treated by MVS doctors. MVS offers:

Top Doctors

Our doctors are carefully chosen based on their educational background, medical knowledge, experience and compassion for their patients and clients. Committed to providing the best level of care, the MVS team of board-certified specialists have not only received their degree in veterinary medicine, but have also completed three additional years of education and training and have completed an internship and residency in the area of their specialty. Their know-how combined with MVS' world-class facilities and the most advanced technology, help them deliver a level of expertise that is unmatched.

Attentive Care

Our team of licensed veterinary technicians and assistants along with our client service staff members are committed to ensuring that you and your pet will be treated professionally and with compassion and care. We are pet owners too and understand the deep connection and love you have for your best friend. While your pet is with us, you will be kept up to date on your pet's status, diagnosis and treatment. We understand that sometimes the decisions you have to make are difficult ones and we encourage you to take time to weigh your choices.

Cutting-Edge Diagnostic Tools

The Imaging Center at MVS features an array of sophisticated equipment including advanced ultrasound units that produce highly detailed images and a Siemens CT scanning unit that delivers 360-degree views of a patient's internal body parts. In late 2005, MVS will be one of only a handful of veterinary hospitals in the country with a VetMR Unit. Designed specifically for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of veterinary patients, the unit assists specialists in quickly and accurately diagnosing patients' conditions by providing sharp images of soft tissue such as the brain and central nervous system. MVS has also converted to using digital images of x-ray technology which provides clearer images and allows us to share patient information with you and your pet's primary care veterinarian.

Advanced Treatments & Procedures

MVS is committed to remaining on the forefront of veterinary medicine by continually integrating treatments and procedures that can increase longevity and improve the quality of life for your treasured friend. Considered one of the nation's leaders in specialized veterinary medicine, MVS has a history of being on the leading edge of new and innovative treatments and procedures.

We are one of approximately 15 practices nationwide, and the only on in Michigan, able to perform total elbow replacement surgeries. We were the first veterinary practice to offer TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) surgery which replaces weak knees in dogs and our ophthalmologists were among the first in treating ophthalmologic disorders through corneal transplants and intraocular lens implantation. Today, MVS is one of a handful of surgical centers offering micro-vascular surgery including kidney transplants and free skin flaps. In addition, MVS is a leader in performing total hip replacements.

The Oncology Center at MVS has expanded and is now equipped with a linear accelerator unit that effectively targets cancerous cells without damaging normal tissue and allows for treatment of areas such as the chest and abdomen which were previously untreatable by radiation. Our arsenal of cancer fighting treatments includes radiation therapy, chemotherapy, surgery, nutrition and immunotherapy.
